My Story

Precision, alignment and progressive learning

My name is Andrew Knowles and I'm a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, teaching in Hexham, Northumberland.

I began practising Iyengar Yoga in 2016 and became a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher in January 2025, after completing more than three years of teacher training and mentoring.

I was drawn to Iyengar Yoga because of its emphasis on precision, alignment and progressive learning. It encourages students to understand the actions within each pose, developing greater awareness of how the body works.

Over the years I've experienced how Iyengar Yoga can develop strength, flexibility, balance, mobility and confidence. As a teacher, I aim to share this approach by creating classes that are clear, supportive and progressive.

I want students to develop a deeper understanding of their practice, with clear guidance on how to work safely and effectively. My classes focus on alignment, precision and helping students progress at their own pace.

I continue to develop my teaching through regular practice, attending classes, workshops and professional development events.
